Before I tell your story, here’s mine:
My name is Emily Auten, and I am a gamer, communicator, cat pun master, and copywriter!
In my current position as a Marketing Coordinator for Great Expressions Dental Centers, I create a variety of content for over 300 practices across the United States. Some recent projects I’ve worked on include email blasts, blogs, social posts, flyers, infographics, videos, and doctor bio cards. In this role, I’ve had the opportunity to brainstorm, research, and create content to educate both new and current patients.
In May 2020, I graduated with my Masters in Technical and Professional Communication from Lawrence Technological University. For my thesis I developed a video game, which is something I’ve always dreamed of. As the lead writer, I am developing a script that reflects communication styles and strategies, as well as the power of choice. In my current position, I experimented with quizzes and other interactive elements in email campaigns. I believe that video games and immersive marketing is the future of connecting with an audience.
I am also a self-starter and promoter. As a founder of LTUX, a one day gaming convention at Lawrence Tech, I developed an event that showcases the art and fun of convention culture where everyone can be themselves without judgment. At this event, student game developers show their creations to the world in a public space, while local artists and exhibitors are able to share their work. Through social media promotion, this event has reached thousands.
